Resistance is defined as maintaining balance during and after a traumatic event. This is our first defense against stress injury. It is born out of awareness and education.
This course is intended to educate patrollers about stress injury - what it is, how it happens, and what you can do about it - so you may be better prepared to help yourselves and your fellow patrollers respond to and recover from exposure to on-the-hill trauma.
ATTENTION
If you have suffered a stress injury, either as a patroller involved in a traumatizing rescue event or elsewhere in your life, please be advised that this presentation may trigger memories and emotions associated with past exposure to traumatizing situations and events.
